Susan Gamble

Founder of Facts on Fiction

Susan Gamble is the founder of Facts on Fiction and president of Magic City Webs, LLC. She founded Facts on Fiction after finding her eight-year-old child's school-recommended book peppered with expletives, a man fondling a woman's breasts, children looking at pornographic magazines and references of gore and child abuse.

Because this book had received many honors, the book was offered as acceptable reading for her child. She knew the book was estimable literature and didn't dispute it held value for an older child. However, she didn't think her child was ready for it at his age and emotional level.

Thus Facts on Fiction was born. It is designed to support parents and educators with detailed information on what our kids are reading.

In addition to founding Facts on Fiction, Ms. Gamble is the president of Magic City Webs, LLC where she helps small and medium sized businesses harness the power of the Internet. Magic City Webs offers web site consulting, design, maintenance, hosting, technical support and Internet marketing and works with companies including Abacus IT solutions, Alabama Golf Association, Barfield Murphy Shank & Smith, Capstone Building Corp. Columns and Carvings, Hardwick Company, Highland Technical Services, Hufham Farris, Occupational Health Dynamics, Principle Pharmacy, Riverside Refractories and Tidmore Flags.

Previously she was employed with Alabama Power as an engineer.

Throughout her career, Ms. Gamble has been active in the Birmingham Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Entrepreneur's Round Table, a group of business owners that meets monthly to discuss business issues. In 2005, she was nominated for the Chamber's 2nd Annual Roundtable Entrepreneur of the Year Award by the members of her Entrepreneur's Roundtable. The more than 100 members of the Chamber's six roundtables each selected one person to nominate for the award.

Ms. Gamble is also a founding board member of The Internet Professionals Society of Alabama.

Ms. Gamble is active in her local PTA and is Chairman of the Pizitz Middle School Enrichment Conference. She holds a degree in Industrial Engineering from Auburn University, and a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She resides in Birmingham, Alabama with her husband Page Gamble and her two sons, Forrest and Wynn.

Jo Anne joined FOF in August 2007. Her primary responsibilities include reviewer assignments and database management. She previously worked as a staff manager with BellSouth. She and her husband, Bill, a manager with AT&T, reside in Hoover. They have two children, Krissy and Erik.
